Today at the beach

on

It was car servicing day which meant a drive to where my brother is a service manager and a waiting time at the beach while the car was cared for and washed. A two hour drive has to have some pay offs! The weather was grey and the ocean that wonderful colour of blue/grey but not really pastel. Quiet surf brushed the shore and washed over the rock pools. Volcanic rock worn down over heaven knows how many thousand years to reveal boxes and bubbles made during the cooling process at the time of its eruption from the earth. Always makes me smile.

Didn’t take a photo of them though. It was the divots in the sand the shape of marbles that might have  been dropped into the damp sand and carefully removed to reveal an array of fairly uniform circles under the wispy tree overhead. These little circles the size of the cat’s eyes my brother used to play with clustered under the ends of the branches above, made when the breeze blew and the water had become heavy on their tips. The best part was they remained for me to see impressed in the sand a long while later. So lovely to be quite and just be at the beach.
