About

My Sophist Garden was begun on Facebook simply as a place to share my artistic creations when I started going to Tamborine Mountain on my weekends. The name happened because my own name would have required such a large number after it that it wouldn’t have been memorable….my little garden outside my backdoor has been the source of delight and comfort; wonder and decision. Sophist aside from being rather pretty as a word, is about one who teaches wisdom and seeks understanding of being ideas… my garden has given me that and allowed my to know deep truth in the simple beauty of what many consider ordinary things. And so it is My Sophist Garden.

My name is Sandy and I  work as a teacher. A new idea is growing and it has to do with sharing the journal of images of my journey to simply being as I am. Too grown up for school. I no longer count up to or away from holidays, or measure my day by the amount of tasks I achieved. I make beauty now and use the beauty I create to share with others. My ‘dream’ job if I have one though I don’t know what to call it; is simply to share some time in a way that is meaningful with the other that is there and when they leave they smile. Art seems to be the way and colouring it in for others, the sharing.

Right now I am trying to find out how I make it a business which I can earn my living from as I give people the opportunity to find quiet and listen to themselves as they engage with my pictures. it is a nice aspiration….nice is a word that is often misunderstood, simply gentle and lovely and necessary and pleasant and….an undefined sense of right that leaves you with a little smile on your face.

If you have a creative thought to share with me about how this might happen my little dream or simply want to make connection, you are welcome to contact me through here or on Facebook: My Sophist Garden.
